What Our Guests Say | The Pentire Hotel

“Very Pleasantly Surprised”
Stayed here on a Travelzoo offer. The family room was nearly a suite - 2 bedrooms/bathroom - spacious, clean, newly decorated (very tastefully, in fact) and with a sea view. Beds were comfortable (I'm over 6 foot so this is always a prime consideration!). Room was quiet, so kids weren't disturbed (another prime consideration!) Food - half board. Breakfast - cereals / fruit, choices of omelettes/poached, full English, kippers. All were well cooked and filling. Dinner - starter/main/dessert/coffee, choices throughout, the roast beef was particularly good. Entertainment - only had one evening's worth of entertainment, he was very good we thought. Staff - the real strength of this hotel, we all thought. All the staff we dealt with were unceasingly courteous, polite, and had a good attitude, in the sense of nothing was too much trouble. So much so we left a good tip when leaving - the first hotel I've stayed in where I felt it justified. It really was excellent customer service, well done to all the staff! (Extract Feb 2012)

“Five Stars - Little Enough”
Lucky enough to pick up dinner, bed and breakfast here for £32 per night and have to say the hotel cannot be faulted - food is top notch and the staff are a dream... we made the most of this excellent hotel. (Extract Feb 2012)

“Amazing Value!”
We stayed for 3 nights on a TravelZoo offer and were amazed at the value for money. The young staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend it for a value break. Views from top floor facing East over Fistrell Bay are fantastic. (Extract Feb 2012)

“Great Hotel”
Wife and I plus friends stayed here last week on a 5 day coach tour of Cornwall. We could not find fault at all. Our room was clean and comfortable with a decent flat screen TV with freeview, That made a pleasant change from the usual big clonky ones we usually get. We had evening entertainment which we enjoyed and the bar and lounge areas were very good. We didnt use the swimming pool but spoke to others that had and they were happy. The food was Excellent! waitress served ( bonus ) a good choice on the menu each night and cooked and served to perfection ( in my view). We certainly have no reservations in recommending this hotel and are planning a return trip later this year but on a self drive basis. (Feb 2012)

“Lovely hotel, lovely staff”
My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 nights, arriving on 31st Jan 2012. The hotel was perfectly clean and comfortable, and very very warm. Heating a hotel of that size, when it was so cold can't be cheap. Makes a nice change to so many hotels I've been cold in! Staff were amazing and really couldn't do enough, we were made to feel very welcome! Thank you so much all at Pentire! (Extract 2012)

“Short Break”

We have just had a winter break at this hotel. There was no way we could fault it.The hotel was warm, the food was very good and every one was very pleasant. The view's from the room's at the back of the hotel have wonderful view's even in the winter. Just to sit and watch the surfer's at Fistral Beach was great. (Extract 2012)

“Great Place To Stay”
Guests were among the friendliest I have met, staff were great and the room with a sea view was great also. Breakfast was a good do and a good start to the day. Will definitely return again and would recommend to anyone. (Extract 2012)

“Excellent Value”
We stayed for 3 nights for Twixmas break and could not fault the hotel. Every member of staff was friendly and helpful, the food was superb and there was good entertainment each night. Our room was comfortable and clean and we would definitely stay again. (2012)

“Great Family Hotel”
This is the second time we have spent the New Year at this hotel, the first was 2 years ago. The drinks were very reasonable and coffee or tea during the day also. The food at this hotel is exceptional, beautifully cooked with a wide variety and plenty of it. The waiting staff were great too, nothing was too much trouble and amazingly they appeared to be all English! This is a family owned and run hotel and the owners and their family joined the guests for the complete New Year which in these days of chain hotels is a nice touch, great confidence in your product. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and would happily return. (Extract 2012)

“Superb value for money”

Food is fresh hot and nicely presented, Dogs are welcomed but there was not a doggy smell anywhere. The staff are a fantastic team always ready to please. The pool was superb very warm and towels provided. (Extract 2011)

'Great Base'
This hotel is a great base for visiting Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan etc. Rooms spotless and cleaned every day. We stayed on a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast deal and have to say we enjoyed most of the meals. No complaints at all. The staff were very helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Pentire. (Extract 2011)

“A most relaxing time”
We had a very pleasant 7 nights stay. The room was very good, the food was excellent, the service came with a smile, the lounge was comfortable and the other guests were very friendly. My husband played golf, the children spent most of the time in pool and I was free to take advantage of most reasonably priced beauty treatments available at the hotel, including the Garra Ruffa fish, ‘Happy Feet Pedicure’ which was the most novel and without doubt the very best pedicure I’ve ever had. All in all I had the most relaxing time - and the others enjoyed themselves too. We can’t wait to return. (2011)

“Excellent value & v helpful staff”
I booked here as it was the only place I could find a room at short notice. However I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The room had all the facilites you could want with an immaculate en-suite. The swimming pool was an excellent bonus. The staff were extremely helpful and happy to assist with any queries. I enquired about an evening meal , unaware service was about to end. However they were still provided an excellent 3 course meal at a terrific price. Excellent value all round and I'd be happy to book here again (2011)

"Nice Hotel"
We stayed at this Hotel with a Coach Tour from Scotland. We found the Hotel very nice, the room we had was what you would expect. The room was clean and the bathroom was fine. The food was very good, there was something for everyone, and there was plenty. The Staff were very friendly and helpful. (Extract 2011)

“Very friendly & close to all amenities - perfect!”

I stayed at this hotel with my family. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, making a lovely atmosphere throughout for me and my children. The pool was excellent along with all the other facilities provided. Our room was spacious, lovely and clean and the food quality was of high standard. We will definitely be returning in the future and I would certainly recommend it. The bonus was being a 4 minute walk to Fistral Beach. (2011)

"Good Value for Money"
My wife, myself and my parents stayed in the Pentire hotel for four nights. The breakfast was mostly buffet except for the cooked breakfast, but they had a good choice. The bar was quite modern and sold local ales (Tribute) and cider. There was entertainment on each night and were of a good standard. You could sit out in the sun at the rear of the hotel or on the bar sun terrace at the front of the hotel. The rooms are clean, just big enough for two and have nice en-suite bathrooms. We also had a view at the rear of the hotel and could actually see the sea from our bed, which was nice. We definitely feel we got value for money and we will return to this hotel in the future. (Extract 2011)

"Would Definitely Recommend"

Location is ideal, 5 minute walk to the beach and 10 minute walk into town. Staff were friendly and happy to help. Breakfast was just right. I would DEFINITELY go back to the hotel if I was to go to Newquay again. (Extract 2011)

"Great Hotel"
We recently returned from our third visit to the Pentire Hotel. Each year it keeps improving with its ongoing upgrade of the decor. I was lucky enough to stay in one of the newly decorated rooms and it was lovely. (Extract 2011)

"Thank You"
My family and I stayed with you from 15-20 August this year and I just wanted to write to thank your wonderful staff for making our holiday so great. Every member of staff we came into contact with was delightful. I have never been to a hotel where all the staff seem to enjoy their job. Nothing was ever too much trouble. I think you could teach some very large organisations a few lessons about customer service. Once again thank you for making our stay such an enjoyable one. We hope to return next year. Kind regards Jacintha (Sept 2011)

"Great Budget Hotel"
Friendly reception staff. Didn't have time for breakfast but they organised a take-away. Room small but clean and adequate. Great location and free parking facilities. Would I stay there again - yes (Extract 2011)

'Exceptionally Good'
What I wanted to put on record was how my needs were catered for in your hotel. I was there for a week at the end of July along with a coach load of fellow holidaymakers from Scotland. I am always rather apprehensive about staying in a hotel because I have coeliac disease and not all hotels are geared up to deal with the special gluten-free diet. I have to say however that the Pentire Hotel was exceptionally good in this respect and, from the point of view of meeting my diet, it was probably one of the best I have known and I have travelled fairly extensively in recent years. So, many thanks for the attention I received. It removed the worry over food which can so often put a blight over a holiday. Michael Lawrenson (2011)

'Fantastic Stay'
We would like to thank you for our fantastic stay at your hotel. Your staff are a credit to your hotel. Nothing is to much trouble for them. The food was also fantastic - compliments to the chef. During our stay we celebrated Gill's 65 birthday. We were amazed at the length Amanda and her staff went to, to make this the most special day ever. Thank you all. Please convey our thanks to all your staff and give them our love for giving Gill the best day ever, she will talk about this for a long time! We will be back soon. Gill & Mike Steele (2011)

"Lovely and Welcoming"

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights, we loved it. The rooms were very clean and well decorated and fully stocked tea, coffee etc. The service was first class by all the staff, breakfast was lovely and the staff couldnt do enough for us. There is lots of room in the hotel to just sit and relax a real home from home. We had a lovely view of fistral beach from our window, and its a lovely walk down to there. All in all a wonderful hotel that I would gladly go to again and again. (2011)

"We all felt at home and had a relaxing time"
Came here for a week staying in a double room with a triple through a connecting door for our children...we had a dual aspect and could see out across Fistral beach and all across the hills of Crantock. We paid a reasonable price I think for bed, breakfast and evening meal particularly when I tell you that each and every meal we had was excellent!!! We had a good choice at each sitting and every morsel was well prepared and served by friendly staff...congratulaions Pentire! We did use the swimming pool and sauna on a few occasions and found it to be clean as well as easy to access, my son used the pool table and table tennis a few times and was impressed with the magician who was the entertainment on one of the nights (didn't do much for us adults though). We tried the Happy Feet experience in the salon booked through the hotel which was clean and professional and good value at £10 for 20mins. Overall a good stay we all agreed we will go again. (Extract 2011)

“We loved it so much we plan to return again”
What a lovely friendly Hotel this was, the staff made you feel so welcome and it seemed like home from home, the rooms were clean and well decorated . Tea, Coffee etc. The food we could not fault in any way and the service in the restaurant was first class with waiter service. I would recommend this hotel to anybody wanting to relax and chill out. Also there are plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area of Newquay. WELL worth a visit. Prices are very reasonable too. (2011)

“Would definitely go back!”
My family and I have recently come back from our National holidays trip to the Pentire Hotel, Newquay. It was one of the best holidays we've had! The staff were extremely helpful. Dan the bar manager was very friendly and entertaining, he couldn't have been more helpful and made us feel very welcome, we had such a good laugh with him, he was a real asset to the hotel! The hotel facilities were excellent as was the food and service in the restaurant. Would definitely go back! (2011)

“Good Value”
This hotel featured a special 3 night deal (on half board basis) and as the half term holiday period was included felt we had nothing to lose to explore the coast line area down south. Glad we did! Whilst we didn't enjoy a sea view room, it was comfortable and clean. The meals were varied and plentiful, and the half board basis was really good value for money! The hotel is well situated within walking distance of the beach (though people struggling with steep inclines would have a problem). Staff were on the whole very friendly and welcoming, and we enjoyed a pleasant stay. Indoor pool a bonus! (Extract 2011)

"We had a Fab Time Here"

Have just arrived back from our first 'hotel holiday' with the children (aged 6 and 9). Even though the weather wasn't brilliant it didn't spoil our holiday. We were really impressed with our accommodation. We had a lovely, clean, 2 bedroom family room. The food was excellent with a good choice to suit all and the children could choose from the main menu or a children's menu. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and it was nice that we had the same table and waiter at meal times. We loved the pool and table tennis table. The evening entertainment was good and varied (something for all ages). Fantastic value for money. We will definitely return and would recommend to others. (2011)

“Relaxing Break and Friendly Staff”

Just returned from 4 nights at the Pentire Hotel and have nothing but praise for it. The staff are excellent, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel itself is well placed out of the town centre so is nice and quiet with stunning views over Fistral beach. Will definitely be returning. (2011)

“Fantastic Holiday with a Brilliant Hotel”

I've just returned from a three night break at the Pentire hotel with my fiance. We had a fantastic time on our second visit together to Newquay and would strongly recommend this hotel. The check in was very simple, the room was lovely and we had an amazing view. There is so much to see and do that despite cramming so much in we still ran out of time. This hotel is in a great location with the town very easy to get to and it was very good value for money. We will return to Newquay and would definitely choose this hotel again and would strongly recommend it. (Extract 2011)

"Fantastic Value, Fantastic Service
"
Me and my wife went on a 'Just Go coaches' package trip which for us was more than what we usually spend on a holiday. But for the cash we spent and the service we got throughout, it was worth every penny. We upgraded beforehand for a 'sea view ' room and boy oh boy...it didn't disappoint. The view of Fistral beach was beautiful and the added touch of the headland Lighthouse at night was fantastic. The location was great as well. The first night we arrived, we decided to take a trip to the cliff edge to watch the sun go down. On Google maps it looks like a real walk. In reality it's 10 minutes away and not to be missed. Down the road it takes you straight into Fistral beach and into some very cool surf club houses/bars. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and we are going back next year. (Extract 2011)

"Great Value"

Location is out of the main town centre but that can be an advantage. Taxi into town is less than £5.The Food was excellent and catered for all tastes. The Swimming pool is new, nice and clean. However the sauna only has a set max. temperature which was not hot enough for us. The Eden project is well worth a visit. (Extract 2011)

"Dog Friendly with Excellent Food"
I booked a 3 night mid-week stay to enjoy the end of season weather in Newquay with my Collie Sammy and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food, service and overall value for money, especially as they only charged me £5 a night for Sammy. If you have a dog and fancy a midweek coastal break with a fantastic view of the Atlantic Ocean, then look no further, as the Pentire does exactly what it says in the brochure. I would especially recommend mid-January, as the sea is wild and the beach is normally empty, but the staff and service are still first class. (Extract 2011)

"Friendly Staff, Great Food"
We stayed here in July 2011 on our 1st visit to Newquay. The hotel staff are really friendly & helpful and the food is great. Everything is cooked fresh with a good choice of menu, and I can guarantee you won,t be disappointed with the choice of dishes on offer. (Extract 2011)

"Thank You For an Amazing Stay"
Came down with the Just Go coaches excursions this July 2011. Just a quick message to say thank you for the amazing stay. It made mine and my wife's Anniversary stay in Newquay fantastic. A big shout out to Dan the man! He was ace. And a big thank you to all of the staff that helped with getting me a taxi/emergency dentist for my toothache. The room was exceptional, the view was astounding and everyone made us feel really welcome. Hopefully see you all next year for another good stay and a good laugh. (Extract from Facebook July 2011)

"A Great Weekend"
Thank you all at the Pentire for a great weekend. Even the sun came out. Loving the changes we see each time we visit - which I think is 6 visits to date. (Facebook, June 2011)

"A Winning Team"
Just back from another lovely weekend. Thanks to all the staff, for a lovely stay, a winning team me thinks, and the hotel is looking fab (Facebook, June 2011)

“Very Good Value for Money”

Have just returned from a week at the hotel which i found to be excellent value for money. We had a lovely view from our room over the bay and although a chest of drawers would have helped the room was nice and had a lovely bathrom with a very powerful shower. The check in was very smooth  - not easy when there are 43 of you. The staff in general very helpful. The food was excellent and very good choice each day. Would reccomend the hotel to anyone visiting the area (Extract 2011)

“What a Gem of a Hotel”
We had a lovely few days at the Pentire. The staff are wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is superb and the menu varied. Our very comfortable room looked out onto Fistral beach. Pay the extra for a sea view and you won’t be disappointed. (Extract 2011)

"Would Go Back"
On arrival greeted by efficient friendly staff. Our room was sea facing and we had the pleasure of a 'peeping Tom' (he was a gull)!! The room was very clean, a comfortable bed TV etc. The dining room was excellent, choice of meals, a very polite young waiter - he was very happy to accommodate a companions special dietary needs. Food was cooked and served to a high standard. (Review 2011)

“Welcoming 1st Class Service, Clean Rooms, Excellent Food, Great Sea Views”
Situated on Pentire Headland giving lovely views of the surrounding area. The local bus stops outside the hotel and takes you into the town centre, which is a long walk for elderly or disabled people. For those who enjoy walking there are plenty of lovely walks nearby. The hotel is clean and staff are very pleasant and accommodating to individual needs. The rooms were clean, spacious with en-suites, television and tea/coffee facilities. Meals were varied with plenty of choice at breakfast and evening, and were cooked and presented to a high standard. There was nightly entertainment or you could just relax in the lounge areas. (Extract 2011)

“Excellent Value and Service”
We spent a very enjoyable few days at the Pentire. The staff were all very cheerful and helpful and excellent attention was given to my sister's gluten and dairy free diet. I thoroughly enjoyed the variety and quality of the food on the menu and Nick our waiter couldn't have looked after us better!! The view from our window was superb and the pool is a great extra. Many thanks to all of the staff. (Extract 2011)

“Lovely Hotel. Great Staff”
Went to the Pentire with a coach group. We found the hotel to be very comfortable, staff very helpfull nothing to much trouble. The food was excellent, plenty of choice, well cooked. Bedrooms comfortable, although more storage space would be nice but only a minor problem. Bedrooms cleaned properly every day. Worth paying upgrade for sea facing room. Hotel in good location with bus stop a min or so up the road. All in all a very enjoyable stay would go again and would recomend The Pentire to friends and family. (Extract 2011)

“Relaxing Stay with Excellent Service”
My wife and I stayed at the Pentire Hotel over the Bank Holiday week end and I can honestly say that for the money we got full value. All the meals were excellent and the staff were friendly and could not do enough to make our stay a good one. There were some groups of people on a a choir tour from the Midlands and we even got some in-promptu sing songs (Extract 2011)

“Nice room. Upgraded at little cost. En-suite. Good view of sea. Great breakfast and evening”
We had nice sea view. Nice room  - recently refurbished clean fresh bed en-suite. Good hot shower, warm room. Tea coffee & biscuits / Great breakfast / Evening meal  - good selection & big portions. Wine - good selection. Didn't see entertainment, but others said good. Pool nice bar/lounge/staff really nice waiters and waitresses friendly. (Extract 2011)

“Excellent stay at a well run hotel”

We had a very very enjoyable stay at The Pentire made so by the efficient and friendly staff who will go out of their way to help and to make sure that you have a good time whilst staying at The Pentire. Without a doubt we would recommend The Pentire and would have no hesitation in staying there next time we are in Cornwall. (Extract 2011)

“Great hotel”
Great value for money hotel, great friendly staff. Special mention for Abby the receptionist. Lovely, friendly and very helpfull. (Extract 2011)
