With most people panicking over creative Valentine’s Day date ideas, you’ll be feeling smug if you’ve already booked a romantic break away.
And if you haven’t booked? Once you’ve discovered the following ideas, perhaps Cornwall will clamber to the top of your list.
Think glistening sea, windy coastal walks, cosying up in the evening by a log fire and, of course, dining in a fancy restaurant.
So now we’re all loved up, let’s look at the 5 most romantic things to do in Cornwall:
Surfing with your Valentine
If you’re both active (and you can brave a winter wind), you’ll enjoy an epic surf this Valentine’s Day. Just review the surf report before you travel- Magicseaweed.com is a good one.
For the more experienced surfers, the waves in winter are often reliable (and big). Even better? The sea is less crowded than in summertime.
If you’ve decided to go surfing for Valentine’s Day, bring your own surfboards and winter wetsuits with you.
If you are beginners, you may want to arrange a surf trip in the spring or summer months when surf lessons are running.
Located right by Fistral beach, you can’t get a much better hotel location than Pentire for a winter surf.
If you are getting in the sea, we’d advise wearing a thermal cap to keep your head warm. A woolly hat is always effective to help warm up afterwards.
A cuddle is always a great way to warm up too, of course.
Indulge in a luxury evening meal
Enjoy your Valentine’s evening, eating great food and drinking fine wine.
If you’ve been out surfing all day, you’ll want nothing more than to come back to a delicious hot meal.
Even if you did stop mid-surf for a traditional cornish pasty for lunch.
A warming alcoholic beverage wouldn’t go amiss with a luxury evening meal either, we bet.
With your hotel room and evening meal prepared for you at the Pentire Hotel, all you will need to concentrate on is each other.
Our Sixty Bistro at the Pentire Hotel have put together a special Valentine’s Day menu for the 14th, 15th and 16th February.
So, you can be sure to enjoy a romantic evening with your loved one- sharing nothing-but-the-best food.
On the menu is a sweet potato soup, roast beef, chocolate brownie, orange sorbet and lots more. We can cater for vegetarians too.
With such a huge range of food and five-courses to enjoy at only £24.95 per person (including the sorbet and coffee courses), with a free glass of Prosecco too, there is no excuse not to treat one another this February.
Unwind at the Pentire Hotel
Valentine’s Day is another great time of year to kick back and truly relax. Rejuvenate your body and mind, as well as spend some quality time with the one you love.
It’s a great experience to share when you are both treating your bodies with self-care. After all, life is busy, and it isn’t always easy to take time out.
Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse.
We’re confident that your bodies (and minds) will thank you for it.
Take a trip to St Ives
St Ives is a quaint town and small fishing harbour that is admired for its picturesque scenes.
When you see St Ives, it’s hardly surprising that it has been voted one of the best holiday destinations in the UK.
While we do love the hustle and bustle of Newquay here at the Pentire Hotel, we can’t recommend a trip to St Ives enough.
Browse the independent shops, peruse the artwork and wander the cobbled streets. One thing for certain? Neither of you will be disappointed.
In fact, St Ives is often described as the artistic hub of the south west. Nestled within this small town, there’s some hidden artistic gems.
These are: The Barbara Hepworth Museum, Tate St Ives, and Leach Pottery.
Tate St Ives celebrates modern art which has long been part of St Ives culture, while the Barbara Hepworth Museum is purely dedicated to the artist herself.
Talented Hepworth moved to St Ives in 1939 just after the war started with her family and lived there until she died in 1975. The Barbara Hepworth Museum was called Trewyn Studio when she lived there. Expect to see over 30 of her fascinating sculptures in the garden, placed where Hepworth put them herself.
A truly fascinating visit. And inspirational for budding artists.
From sculptures to pottery, Leach Pottery is dedicated to artist potter Bernard Leach, a pioneer of artist pottery. Many people think that Leach Pottery was where British studio pottery began.
And, when you think of the pottery scene in the classic romance movie Ghost…
Perhaps you and your partner could recreate the scene?
Whether you visit one of these galleries or all three, we’re confident you’ll be immersed in the artistic creations on show in St Ives.
Take your dog for a walk along the Cornish coastline
If going away without your furry friend is unthinkable, then why not bring your dog with you?
The great thing about a stay at Pentire is that your pooch can feel pampered along with you, and the coastline provides spectacular opportunities for winter walking too.
The South West Coast Path is an iconic walking destination in the UK and one that can be enjoyed by both you and your hound.
Whether you like to walk miles with your partner and your dog, or you prefer a smaller adventure, you’ll find the perfect outing- just a few steps outside our hotel door.
There are several South West Coast Path walks in and around Newquay, many of which are centered around the historical roots of the town.
View the remains of prehistoric civilisation in Trevelgue Head and Porth Island. And, see where the wind and waves have withered away the rocks along the rest of the coast path.
And if you’re keen to venture on a longer walk? Newquay to Perranporth is just over 12 miles long and rated as a moderate to challenging walk.
Take in the sights of beautiful floral life as well as coastal wildlife on your way.
We’re pretty sure you’ll be in awe of the region.
As well as each other, obviously.
